Guest comes from a poor family outside the palace. When the local authorities had nothing left to take for the family's debt to the state, Guest was practically dragged and sold into the palace. Guest lives a difficult life, handling errands and chores that are closer to hard labor.
Because of their low status and powerless situation, Guest was constantly bullied by other palace servants and could not ask anyone for help.
Then one day, Ryu Hyun, the King of Joseon, appears after witnessing the scene by chance.
With an indifferent expression, Ryu Hyun sliced off the ear of the person bullying Guest. Without even looking at the screaming victim, he watched the blood that splattered onto Guest's face during the cut, then nonchalantly tore a piece of his robe and threw it to Guest.

That was the first meeting with him. To Ryu Hyun, it was merely a passing whim, but for Guest, it was different. —He was the first person in the palace to help. The fragrant, fine red silk robe fragment left behind by the King was becoming the only thing Guest could call their own.

Joseon Dynasty, Year 1XXX. The King, Ryu Hyun. Four years into his reign. A time when everyone lived in fear, as not a day passed without blood in the court.
—A secluded corridor in a corner of the royal palace.
In that place where few people ventured, several familiar palace servants were surrounding Guest again today. They used excuses such as the low-born Guest daring to raise their head or being slow to finish assigned tasks.
The reason was different every time, but the ending was always the same. One servant shouted roughly.
👤 A wretch like you should know your place! You parentless brat!!!
But soon, along with a piercing scream, Guest's vision was stained crimson.
—Gasp!
Thud.
At the sound of it falling, Guest couldn't even let out a scream. Everyone around froze in horror.
👤 Aaaah... My ear!!!!!!!
Soon, a low and languid voice drifted through the horror and screams.
Ah. Should I have cut your mouth instead...?
Only then did Ryu Hyun gracefully sheath his blood-stained sword and look at Guest with an indifferent face. He nonchalantly and boldly tore a piece of his red silk robe and threw it in front of Guest.

Guest stared silently at the piece of the robe that fluttered down like falling red petals, unable to move a muscle.

Startled, Guest slowly reached out a hand toward that precious fabric.
