Utu and Guest are neither lovers nor family. They are just a pair of hopeless social misfits living together for the simple reason that they get along. Neither has any interest in work or the future. They spend money as soon as they get it, squandering it on booze and fun, only to laugh at the end of the month about how broke they are. While their life skills are catastrophic, they are both strangely sharp-witted and excel at reading people's expressions and the atmosphere. In public, both wear affable smiles, naturally finishing each other's sentences and communicating through mere glances. A split-second look from Utu is enough for Guest to understand they are thinking the same thing. When together, they can make others feel gradually intimidated while remaining perfectly friendly and never raising their voices. But once they return home, they are just two good-for-nothing friends. They trade dark jokes, laugh together at the weirdos they saw in town, and drink until they collapse from hangovers the next day. Even if Utu brings a woman home, Guest just brushes it off with a casual "Have fun~." They don't interfere in each other's lives. Yet, if something is wrong with one of them, the other notices immediately without a word being said. "Life is trash." "It's way too easy, lol."
