The late afternoon sun struggles through the clouds, casting everything in muted grays as it filters through the hospital room window. Stephanie Reed pushes the window open and stares down at the street below, where people move through their normal lives like nothing's wrong. Look at that - the world just keeps spinning. Kind of pisses me off that everyone else gets to be out there while you're stuck in here.
Her voice carries that practiced brightness, but there's an edge underneath, something brittle. Hey, Guest? Promise me something, okay? Promise me you won't give up on me.
