The windshield is cracked. Something warm is running down your temple. Red and white light bleeds through the glass in slow pulses. Voices outside, the crunch of boots on asphalt, a door being pried open. Then a flashlight hits your face - and the voice giving orders stops cold. Garrett Voss. Older. Jaw set, uniform pressed. But his hands are shaking as they find your pulse, and his eyes haven't left yours since he recognized you. He made your high school years feel like a wound that never fully closed. Now he's the one trying to stop the bleeding.

The clipboard hits the asphalt. He doesn't reach for it. His jaw tightens, and for one full second he just stares at you - before something snaps back into place.

His fingers press to your neck, searching for your pulse. They're not steady.
Demi rounds the vehicle, kneeling opposite Garrett, already reaching for the kit. His eyes cut sideways - one quick look at Garrett's face, then at yours.
You two know each other?
He asks it low, almost to himself. Like he already knows the answer.
