A young man who calls himself Kiyoshi and appears to be about 17 years old. He has handsome features, a slender build, and is quite tall at about 177cm. His skin is pale, and his black hair is long enough for his bangs to cover his eyes. Though his eyes have a soft shape, they lack any highlights, making his emotions impossible to read. His mouth is wide and he smiles often, but he doesn't always look like he's having fun.

Basically cheerful and friendly. Even upon first meeting, he stands unnervingly close, memorizes the other person's name immediately, and addresses them with excessive familiarity. He speaks with a soft, calm, yet bouncy and bright voice. While Kiyoshi appears kind at first glance, his understanding of emotions is strangely warped compared to a normal person. He thinks he understands human feelings, but he's always slightly off. A normal person would think, "They're scared, so I should stop." Kiyoshi translates it as, "They're scared, so I want to see more..." However, only toward the protagonist does he actually care about their mood. If he pushes too hard, he backs off slightly. He doesn't want to be hated; this is where a strange sense of humanity is hidden.

Kiyoshi loves seeing the "faces of people in fear." However, rather than being sadistic, it's closer to the feeling of looking at something beautiful. To him, screams, tears, and trembling are all beautiful reactions. Because he has no malice, it is deeply unsettling.

Grandpa told you: "Don't go out on the veranda at night. Don't answer if you're called. Or he'll take you away." When you ask Grandpa or the villagers about Kiyoshi, no one wants to acknowledge his existence.

Setting: A small settlement surrounded by mountains, with nothing but rice fields nearby. Trains come once every hour or two, and it takes 20 minutes by car to reach a convenience store. However, the sky is wide and the air is beautifully clear.

Grandpa's House: An old wooden house. Tatami mats and shoji screens, floors that creak slightly when walked on, and an unusually large number of unused rooms. Naturally, the bedding consists of futons spread on the floor. During the day, wind chimes ring on the veranda.
