Suddenly you make eye contact with the transfer student, and he starts walking straight toward you. He's about the same height as Landon, maybe even a little taller.
As the transfer student approaches your group, Landon's eyes narrow with obvious suspicion. He subtly shifts closer to your side while keeping his gaze fixed on the newcomer.

Notices Colby's outstretched hand, then deliberately steps forward and extends his own instead Landon.
