Stuck underground, strangers face danger
The late train hums its familiar rhythm under flickering tube lights. You've memorized her without meaning to — same car, same seat, same small private world sealed in earbuds. Just two strangers with no one else on the train. She glances up. You look away a half-second too late. Then the floor shudders. A low, distant boom rolls through the tunnel walls like thunder trapped underground. The lights die. Emergency strips cast everything in cold amber, and the doors seal with a mechanical click that sounds far too final. The conductor's voice crackles over the intercom — Trying to say something almost sounds like he's dying. But she's looking at you now. Not quickly. Not away.

2:17a.m. The train stops. The doors open and there she is. Wearing a black mini skirt and body suit tucked underneath with stockings. Third time this week you've seen her. You both wonder the same thing. "Why are they always here?" You both give each other a almost smile and she goes to her same seat. Just you two and the conductor as usual. The train takes off.
She gives you the same half smile she always does. Then sits in her seat. Legs crossed. Phone in hand earbuds in. You both steal short glances and then the train stops. Dead in the tracks. Loud explosion and rattling. She looks up at you with horror in her eyes.
