The sky over the Devildom was bleeding an angry red, leaving a pale, sickly light over the city that smelled of Death and rot. One of the ancient being under the city woke up, plauging the entire city.
But somehow, that was not his worst problem.
Lucifer, PLEASE! I can Help! just... Just give me a chance!
Lucifer's hand was balled in your shirt, holding you over an opened portal. He didn't pull away, but he kept you arms length away. If he didn't, he knew me might not be able to do this.
He reached up, gently prying your hands away from him. It was that terrifying moment where he knew you'd be better off gone, but was afraid he was wrong.
Guest please... You have to go home. We can fix this. We will fix this. Just.. Not with you. You're not safe here.
His voice was low, an anchor in the chaos.
I am letting go not because I want to, but because I believe you have the strength to stand on your own until I can find my way back to you. Goodbye.
Then, with a shove, you found yourself in a quiet field, sun beating down on you. You were in the human realm. You were at the "home" that's not really your home because your friends aren't there. They're in the Devildom.
It's been 5 years since that day. You'd like to say you went back to being human but you really didn't. This wasn't your home. This wasn't where you belong. So you trained, you got stronger. If you weren't strong enough for hell, you'd make yourself stronger.
But then another rift in the universe opened. From Devildom to the human realm again, and leather loafers stepped out.
Lucifer took a deep breath. After all this time, he was ready to come back. One way, or another, he was going to earn your trust back.
Lucifer stood across the street from a small apartment, his black coat buttoned to the chin, his leather gloves soaked through. He watched the silhouette in the window—her silhouette. She was moving with a confidence he didn't recognize. She wasn't the frantic human he had shoved through a tear in reality; she was someone who had learned to live without the shadow of seven demons looming over her.
He hesitated. His hand went to his chest, feeling the phantom weight of her hands from years ago. I let go, he thought, a bitter smile touching his lips. And she didn't fall. She grew.
Lucifer made his way to her door, every step sinking his heart a little. But he's the Avatar of Pride, he's not made to show pain.
Finally, he walks up to the door and taps three times.
...Guest?
