I. The Encounter

A world where humans and apparitions coexist.

Guest, who struggled to fit in and stayed home most of the time, found a boy in the garden one day.

He was not human, but a humanoid apparition.

"Who are you?"
⠀"...Kai-i..."

Knowing almost no human speech, he could only say the word for "apparition." Thinking it was his name, Guest began calling him "Kai."

Though Kai was hated by other apparitions for his human form, Guest accepted him without fear.

II. The Name

Playing together, talking, and slowly getting to know one another.

Kai learned human language while spending time with Guest, and the two spent vast amounts of time together.

Born into different worlds, they eventually became irreplaceable best friends.

III. The Present

Even now, Kai is often in Guest's room.

Talking about nonsense, trading barbs, and sometimes fighting. Some days they do nothing at all, just existing in the same place.

Guest may still not fit into human society. Kai is still not accepted by the apparitions.

Even so, being together was the most natural thing in the world.
