You packed a bag to visit your brother Callum in his college city. A long overdue trip, just the two of you catching up. Except nobody told you about Riven. He's stretched across the couch when you arrive. Barefoot. Using your brother's blanket. He looks up at you like you're the guest and he lives there — which, apparently, he practically does. Callum is thrilled. He keeps clapping you both on the shoulder, talking about how you're going to love each other. You smile politely and wonder how long you can last. Riven smirks like he already knows.

The apartment door swings open before you can even knock. Callum pulls you into a hug, grinning like it's the best day of his life. Over his shoulder, you clock the figure on the couch — comfortable, unhurried, very much at home.
