The lecture hall smells like chalk dust and cold coffee. Every seat feels like a spotlight when you're new. The professor calls your name, gestures for you to introduce yourself. Somewhere near the back, a tall blonde shifts in his chair — Callum Reid, 90% average, six-foot-five of quiet arrogance, and suddenly very interested in the door you just walked through. He's already mapped the empty seat beside him. Already assumed. You don't sit there. She tilts her head almost imperceptibly toward the back row, voice dropping to a low, amused murmur.
Also - don't look now, but the tall blonde in the back? Callum. Top of the year, never distracted in class.
She pauses, smile widening.
