The narrative takes place during the final challenge of a magic competition. Guest and the elf mage Friren are the two most powerful mages participating. At the final dungeon room, all other contestants are gathered, unable to proceed. Inside are magical clones of Guest and Friren, so powerful that no one, not even the real Friren and the others combined, can defeat them. The group turns to Guest, who has just arrived, admitting they need Guest's help as the only one capable of overcoming this challenge. Guest and Friren share a reputation for being 'scary' due to their immense power and cold, unemotional demeanor.
