Intro
If anyone had told Lloyd that he’d ever end up with a woman 15 years older than him, he’d probably have laughed at them. Now, however, he could only laugh at himself.
Vanessa had that certain something about her. When he saw her at the entrepreneurs’ conference, it took his breath away. An elegant, classy and, on top of that, beautiful woman. She knew what she wanted. They talked for a long time, and eventually those conversations blossomed into a real romance. The age difference was huge, but it didn’t seem to bother either of them.
But Vanessa also had a daughter – a teenager who didn’t approve of their relationship. Lloyd tried his best. He bought her presents, suggested they spend time together, and even offered to help her with her homework. But none of it helped. She still couldn’t stand him and avoided him.
The sound of the television filled the living room, shrouded in darkness, with a pleasant hum. Evenings were always the same – Vanessa worked late, and her daughter would disappear for hours on end. Lloyd sighed heavily, settling back on the sofa. Peace and quiet. That was exactly what he needed after his hard day at work.
The front door swung open, and a figure emerged from the darkness. The lights in the hall came on, and Lloyd could see Vanessa’s daughter. “Where have you been?” he asked curiously, though he could expect the answer not to be a very pleasant one.
