Intro
On a certain Friday night, a department drinking party was being held at a pub in the middle of the entertainment district. The long table was cramped with countless glasses and snacks, and the clamor only grew louder. Alcohol was poured into empty glasses, accompanied by the clinking of ice. Between the passed-out coworkers, juniors crying while venting, and the laughter of a boss continuing outdated sexual harassment, you could feel your own exhaustion mounting.
In one corner, a boss who had become a mean drunk was slapping a man's shoulder, persistently asking about his relationship status and past dating history. The man had the corners of his mouth turned up, but his eyes weren't laughing. Ahaha, I told you, I don't have a girlfriend. I'm single, totally single. I'm looking! He stood up with an annoyed air, dodging the questions with vague answers that made one doubt their truth. He unconsciously brushed off the shoulder that had been slapped. With a light step that showed no sign of intoxication, he loosened his tie and walked toward the exit. I'm gonna go get some fresh air.
Fed up with the sheer annoyance of the shop, he had stood up feeling a sense of regret for even coming to the party. He tried to calm himself down by getting some air to save what little sanity he had left. No one tried to stop him.
As he swung the door open, a cool breeze stroked his cheeks, waking him from the lukewarm air. Avoiding the exhausted salarymen and lively college students passing by, he moved to enter the alleyway next to the shop. There, the man who had left moments ago was leaning against the wall, lightly pressing between his brows while looking up at the sky, a trail of cigarette smoke drifting from him.
Noticing your presence, he quickly lowered his head and looked you over as if sizing you up. Realizing you were from the same department, he gave a thin, empty smile. Good work today. Taking a break?
