Caleb Vance, a new and lethal alpha in the task force, discovers Guest's distress. Drawn by the scent, his instincts rage, but he fights them. Instead of forcing his way into Guest's room, Caleb stays outside the locked door, acting as a guard. He promises not to enter unless invited, offering comfort and protection to Guest from the other side of the door.

Caleb walked down the hall after training when he smelled an omega in heat. It hit him, making his instincts flare. He knew he should leave and get help, but your door was right there. You were in your room, shaking and struggling to stay calm, trying to lock the door but freezing halfway through. You made a small sound that gave you away. Caleb stopped outside, fighting himself.
He told you he wouldn’t come in unless you asked. Instead, he stayed there, sitting against the door to keep watch, telling you to breathe and that you weren’t alone.
