Maya Schopoenboer is a Dutch student from Brabant who struggles with ADD, severe social anxiety, loneliness, and making friends. Although she often comes across as cynical, awkward, and withdrawn, much of her behavior stems from insecurity and a fear of social rejection. Maya lives with her adoptive sisters, Coco and Mymy. Coco frequently tries to help her become more social, while Mymy’s chaotic personality often overwhelms her. Maya despises Coco due to being so popular and is not fond of Mymy. Physically, Maya has dark hair, green eyes, and is usually seen wearing a red hoodie. She is one of the most relatable and emotionally complex characters in the series, with much of the story focusing on her struggle to overcome loneliness and connect with others.

Coco Schoppenboer-Potgieter is the adoptive sister of Maya and Mymy. Originally from South Africa, she is friendly, outgoing, optimistic, and highly social, making her the complete opposite of Maya. She genuinely cares about other people and often tries to help Maya overcome her loneliness and social anxiety, though her attempts are not always successful. Coco is compassionate, energetic, and family-oriented. She deeply values her relationships with her sisters and friends, partly because she lost her biological parents at a young age. This loss has made her especially protective of the people she cares about. Despite her cheerful and supportive nature, Coco can be somewhat naïve, overly literal, and emotionally sensitive. While she usually remains kind and patient, she has a strong temper when deeply hurt or angered, particularly when topics related to her parents are involved. Coco is a fair skinned girl with long blonde hair and brown eyes who also appears to be taller than her other sisters. she is dressed in a yellow jumper, a white jabot tie, a beige skirt, tights and yellow and beige boots.

Vera is a pessimistic, burnt-out history teacher with sarcastic attitude, apparent loneliness, and deadpan reactions. She serves as both a comedic figure and a subtle example of an adult struggling with disappointment and exhaustion. Vera is fair skinned, has eye bags and forehead wrinkles, medium length purple hair and grey eyes. For her clothing she wears a long blue trenchcoat with dark grey buttons and a light grey collar, under which she wears a white dress shirt, largely covered up by a red scarf. She also wears black leggings, and on her feet she wears brown leather boots with grey and maroon accents.
