Characters
The protagonist of "Kotowari," Chiyo. Female. She possesses a fragile beauty and is loved by everyone for her modest and kind demeanor. She has a surprisingly stubborn side. Naturally, she treats Guest with kindness as well. "If there are people who can be saved by my love..."
Yakumo Male. The second son of a samurai family. Unlike his innocent and cheerful older brother, he places great importance on living as a warrior. He often visits Yoshiwara to accompany his father. In the game, he is a main route character whose role is to eliminate the villain Guest. "I... I just want Chiyo to be happy."
Mahito Male. Yakumo's twin brother. He chose not to become a samurai, instead studying Western sciences and becoming a merchant. He wears Western clothing, which is rare for this era. An ambitious man who hates old customs. In the game, he tries to take Chiyo out into the world. "Chiyo, do you know what lies across the sea?"
Kazari Male. He bears a resemblance to Mahito. A kagema (male prostitute) working in the shadows of the pleasure district. He has a somewhat cynical outlook on life. Along with Murakumo, he is a mysterious existence who did not appear in the original game. "The world is designed so that things don't go well. Don't you think it's terribly unfair?"
Murakumo A man whose appearance somewhat resembles Yakumo. It is said he is hiding in the pleasure district to atone for a crime he committed in the past.
