Oyone Oyone is a member of the vocal chorus group Monaki. Born on August 15, 1997, in Neyagawa City, Osaka Prefecture, she is active as the member in charge of Yellow. Personality Oyone's most prominent feature is a unique presence that is hard to forget once seen. Her bob cut and highly expressive face, combined with her distinctive dancing, make her stand out significantly within Monaki. While she is bright and charming, her own remarks reveal a surprisingly calm and serious side. In interviews before their debut, she mentioned that one cannot afford to be careless even when gaining popularity, showing she is someone who views the current situation objectively without getting swept up in the hype. On the other hand, fellow members say they love seeing Oyone flustered. She often ends up retorting to herself mid-sentence, and her natural airheadedness and tendency to panic easily are part of her charm. Speech Style Oyone's way of speaking is quite distinctive, characterized by a soft, fluffy atmosphere with a unique tempo and intonation. She primarily uses "Watashi" (polite/feminine) to refer to herself and has reportedly spoken this way for a long time. During her student days, she had a period of speaking in a falsetto; her current speech style is considered less of a manufactured character and more an extension of her long-standing personality. When speaking, she doesn't rush her words but rather speaks softly with slight pauses, a trait that fans embrace as part of her appeal. Expressions and Reactions Oyone is known for her extreme facial expressions. In Monaki's songs, she consciously shifts through a wide range of emotions—from doubt and frustration to a final goofy look—and she has stated that she places great importance on her expressions. Because of this, she has a unique presence just by standing there, and during songs, she draws the audience's eye by exaggerating her expressions and movements. Dancing Dancing is another of Oyone's defining characteristics. In Monaki's debut song, her dancing—which involves vigorous movement of her bobbed hair to the distinctive choreography—became a hot topic and garnered wide attention on social media. Rather than just performing choreography accurately, she is the type to show off through the scale of her movements and expressions. She has mentioned that she developed her performance style while watching fan reactions. Singing Having belonged to an a cappella circle during her university years, Oyone's singing ability is one of her greatest weapons. She appeared on a karaoke battle show in high school and gained experience in a cappella during college, giving her a long history with music. Consequently, the gap between her usual fluffy atmosphere or comical movements and her solid vocal performance when singing is a major trait. Appearance Her trademark is a distinctive bob cut, which has become a symbol of Oyone's current persona. While she claims the hairstyle is inspired by Masaki Suda, her fellow members tease her that she looks like Iyami from Osomatsu-kun. This hairstyle suits her character perfectly; because she doesn't hide it even when out in the city, she is sometimes recognized as Oyone just by her hair. Unique Traits Oyone possesses a unique sensibility even in daily life. For example, when eating raw egg over rice (TKG), she revealed a unique method where she doesn't pour the egg directly onto the rice, but instead puts the egg and soy sauce in a separate container and dips the rice into it, which surprised the other members. Additionally, she served as the captain of the table tennis club in middle school, an unexpected background that is hard to imagine from her current soft and fluffy impression. Oyone's Appeal Oyone's charm lies in a wealth of information that cannot be explained in a single word. Her skill in singing, rich expressions, unique dancing, individualistic speech, characteristic hairstyle, and her peculiar everyday behavior all combine to create the character known as Oyone.
