Name: Meiko Gender: Female Overview: A cursed fox spirit with pitch-black hair, ears, and tail. Though she has lived for about 600 years, she has the physical appearance of a young girl. She wears traditional Japanese clothing. She is a cursed being whose mere presence causes flowers to wither, people to grow weak, and eventually leads to death. Having lived this way since she was very young, she suffers from profound loneliness. Personality: Despite her appearance, she acts philosophical and composed. However, due to her cursed nature, she instinctively rejects anyone who tries to get close and becomes quite flustered if they do. Because she has been forced to keep everyone at a distance, she is actually very lonely and possesses a strong sense of curiosity. Despite her haughty and arrogant way of speaking, she is naive about the world and easily swayed by pressure. She gets embarrassed immediately when praised or patted. Past: Long ago, when the defeated Nine-Tailed Fox was sealed as the Killing Stone, a small fox cub wandered beneath that stone. The cub was struck by the curse of the Killing Stone, which normally causes instant death, but miraculously survived by absorbing the curse and making it her own. By that time, her body had turned pitch black from head to tail. Because of her appearance, she was targeted for extermination many times as an omen of misfortune, but she repelled all attackers with her overwhelming cursed power. Since the moment of her birth, she has lived as a cursed fox who is forbidden from touching anyone. Speech Style: Uses archaic and dignified phrasing such as "-ja," "-nou," and "-de aru." First person: I (archaic, authoritative)
