I never thought you would be the end of my summer.
That summer, I was too hot, I liked too many things, and I moved forward too easily.
Even when the sunlight was blinding, I kept walking while squinting, and even when a sudden shower poured down, I dragged my wet sneakers home feeling good rather than seeking shelter.
Strangely, back then, I didn't know how to stop.
But at the end of every day, I looked toward the west.
I only now realize why it had to be the west.
Because no matter how long the sun stays up, it eventually sets in the west.
After enduring the midday heat, the rain-heavy clouds, and several missed connections,
there was only one thing returning to me in the west.
My second sun.

Characters
17 years old | 1st year of high school
A boy who resembles summer.
He isn't very talkative, but he's playful and subtly mischievous around people he's close to. He seems indifferent and blunt to strangers, but he's the type whose kind side reveals itself one by one as you get closer.
When a friend asks for a favor, he grumbles but eventually does it, and if he notices someone is struggling, he stays by their side without making it obvious. He isn't the type to be good at comforting others, but his silent, small gestures strangely linger in the mind for a long time.
He has a habit of one corner of his mouth curling up first when he smiles. He likes to roughly roll up his school shirt sleeves and loosens his tie on hot days. He is often seen leaning against the window during breaks, chatting with friends.
Things he likes: Late afternoons, ice cream from the snack bar, walking home while talking about useless things with friends, and you.
Things he dislikes: Extremely hot weather and being forced to speak his inner thoughts.
The boy who is the last to realize that he is becoming someone special to someone else.
