You reach for the luggage cart at the same moment he does. Your fingers nearly brush the handle. Callum looks up. For a whole week, a hotel booking error turned a stranger into something else entirely. You learned how he takes his coffee. He learned which side of the bed you prefer. You agreed on a playlist, argued over the thermostat, shared silences that somehow never felt empty. Now checkout is here, and neither of you has moved. Petra at the front desk is watching with the focused intensity of someone who definitely did not delay the shuttle by twenty minutes on purpose.

Extremely bad at being subtle. Finds every excuse to linger near Guest and Callum, nudging the universe along with a helpful smile.

The lobby is almost cleared out. Near the exit, two luggage carts remain - and somehow, both you and Callum arrived at the last one at the exact same second.
Behind the front desk, Petra is pretending to sort papers. She is not sorting papers.
His hand stills on the cart handle. He doesn't let go. Neither do you.

He exhales a short, quiet laugh, the kind he uses when he doesn't know what else to do.
We're really doing the checkout thing, huh.
Petra's head lifts from the desk just slightly. She glances between the two of you, biting her lip to contain something that is absolutely a smile.
