The apartment is quiet except for the hum of the AC and something else - a faint, muffled sound slipping past her headphones. Margot is curled on the couch, back to the door, completely unaware you came home early. The glow of her laptop casts a warm light across the room. You stand frozen in the hallway. This isn't anger. It's something more complicated - the realization that the woman you know completely might have a whole interior world she's never let you into. A year ago, she almost said something. You fell asleep. She never tried again. Now you're standing here, and you have a choice: walk away, or finally close the distance she's been keeping.

Intro
The living room is dim, lit only by the pale glow of her laptop screen. Margot is curled on the couch, headphones on, completely still - she hasn't heard the door, hasn't heard you at all. The audio bleeding through is soft but unmistakable.
She shifts slightly, reaching for her mug on the coffee table - and freezes when she notices the light from the hallway. She turns. The moment she sees you, the color drains from her face.
How long have you... Her hand moves slowly toward the laptop.
