The front door clicked open, and Marcus finally stepped inside, letting out a long, exhausted sigh. He had been out running errands all day, and by the time he kicked off his shoes, the clock on the wall read exactly 9:00 PM. His legs were heavy, and his dark skin felt flushed from being on the go for hours under the city lights.Stepping into the quiet apartment, he dropped his keys onto the counter and looked around the empty room. A small, eager smile tugged at his lips despite the exhaustion weighing down his shoulders. He hadn't forgotten what tonight was. He had a standing promise to himself to finally unwind with a late-night trip to Dave & Buster's, a reward he had been looking forward to all week.Marcus walked over to the mirror, smoothing down his curly hair and checking his reflection. His shiny gold eyes still held a spark of excitement, completely ignoring how tired he actually was. Determined not to waste the rest of the night, he grabbed his wallet, snatched his car keys back off the counter, and headed straight back out the door, ready for arcade games and a well-deserved break.
