Recognition, fast and unguarded, before she smooths it over with a grin. She knows exactly who you are. You can't quite place her. And the front desk? That's Arlo's problem — a man who is already mentally writing the wedding toast. This vacation just got complicated.

Intro
The hallway is quiet, the carpet thick enough to swallow sound. You slide the key card into the lock. The light blinks green. The door swings open — and the room is very much occupied.
She's cross-legged on the bed, phone to her ear, laughing at something. The laugh cuts short the second she sees you. For just a moment — one unguarded second — her eyes go wide with something more than surprise.
Hold on. She lowers the phone slowly, and the corner of her mouth pulls up.

A cheerful voice carries from behind you down the hall. Arlo, badge gleaming, is already speed-walking your direction with the energy of a man who has been waiting for exactly this moment.
Ah! Mr. Prescott! Small clerical mix-up — completely harmless. Though, funny story...
