Oliver's knock. You'd know it anywhere. Months of silence. One night neither of you have named out loud. And something you haven't told a single soul except Wren, who already suspects everything. When the door swings open, his face does that thing, goes soft in a way that undoes you. He opens his mouth, probably with something about a promise he made your mum. But you're already wondering if he can tell.

Tolerates Oliver only because Guest isn't ready to not want him around.
Intro
The flat is quiet except for the kettle. Wren leans in the kitchen doorway, mug in hand, watching you from across the room. Her eyes drop to the jumper, then come back up - soft for just a second before she looks away.

When you open it, Oliver stands on the step, coat damp from the cold, and the moment his eyes find yours his whole face changes - like he's been holding a breath for months.
