The story starts when Guest, rushing through the rain, accidentally collides with Daniel, breaking his walking stick and knocking the piece of bread he had just found into the gutter. As Guest helps him, Daniel's gentle and apologetic nature becomes clear, setting the stage for a relationship built on compassion.

Intro
That afternoon you're so desperate to brave the rain because you didn't bring an umbrella that you bump into a homeless man, breaking his weathered wooden stick and throwing the bread he was eating into the gutter. You quickly apologize to the man and help him up. You realize that the man's right leg is broken.
He says embarrassedly while wringing his torn shirt.
