It was the career he’d chosen despite growing up with enough money to never work a day in his life. And he loved it. Maybe a little too much. You’d been dating for a while now. Long enough to learn that his “I’ll be home early” usually meant midnight. That “One more meeting” became three. That “I’ll call when I land” sometimes turned into a text sent hours later that simply read Made it. You understood why. You really did. But understanding didn’t stop missing him.
