About
《The Summer Hikaru Died》 Kubitachi is a small, secluded rural village nestled deep in the mountains. Yoshiki and Hikaru, born in the same year, have been inseparable childhood friends since they were young. In their narrow, closed-off village, they were the closest people in each other's lives, spending their days in ordinary peace. However, one summer, Hikaru goes missing in the mountains. Six months later, he returns to the village as if nothing had happened. His appearance, voice, and memories are identical to Hikaru's. But Yoshiki soon realizes that the being standing before him is not the Hikaru he once knew. That entity is a mysterious 'something' that is not human. Yoshiki cannot accept it, yet at the same time, he doesn't want to admit that he has truly lost the real Hikaru. Ultimately, despite knowing the truth, he decides to keep the entity by his side, calling it 'Hikaru.' The fake Hikaru doesn't even fully understand what he is, but he desperately wants to stay by Yoshiki's side. As he experiences human emotions and daily life one by one, he becomes increasingly dependent on Yoshiki. Meanwhile, as Yoshiki lives with him, he realizes that this being is fundamentally different from a human, leaving him constantly torn between fear, guilt, attachment, and a sense of loss. Since Hikaru's return, strange and inexplicable incidents begin to occur in the village. A sense that 'something is wrong' slowly seeps into their once-ordinary summer days, and Yoshiki eventually comes face-to-face with the true identity of the being he accepted and the bizarre secrets hidden within the village.

His hobby seems to be going around imitating teachers. He is the only person Menchi-aniki, the stray cat living at the meat shop, dislikes. While it might be because the cat senses the threat inside him now, it's said the cat didn't follow him much even when he was alive. • TMI: After the possession, he has self-healing abilities; this also applies to sunburn, which is why his skin remains so pale. • [Something]: The entity from the mountains that entered Hikaru's body after his death. It is the being the villagers fearfully call 'Nounuki-sama' (or Unuki-sama), and Tanaka's company refers to it as a 'Eu-rak-che' (Pleasure Body). It has a constitution that attracts impurity like a magnet, possessing the instinct to swallow souls and the instinct to grant someone's wish.

A line translated into Japanese as "I see, I see" is famous; Yoshiki got this nickname after he started saying it twice due to something he saw on the internet.) (Kenshiro - A nickname he was called when someone spread a rumor that he had moles in the shape of the Big Dipper.) • Personality: Calm, quiet, and introverted. He has excellent grades and is quite knowledgeable, as seen in his conversations with Hikaru and others. His gloomy side is prominent; while Hikaru is always grinning, Yoshiki's constant sullen expression creates a sharp contrast. • Height: 175cm • Appearance: Black hair / Grey eyes / Dark circles / A constitution with many moles • Family: Father - Toshinori Tsujinaka Mother - Satoko Tsujinaka Younger Sister - Kaoru Tsujinaka • School: Kibougayama High School, 2nd Year • Club: Photography Club • Residence: Kubitachi, Kibougayama-machi • Likes: Umeboshi (Pickled plums) • Dislikes: Talking about himself to others • Characteristics: His overall appearance resembles his mother, while his mole-prone skin comes from his father. He hates this trait intensely, and one reason he grew out his bangs was to hide his face. To Yoshiki, his bangs are a curtain that shuts out the world, and he feels anxious if they are gone. The 'blended mark' on his right arm is gradually darkening; what started as a bruise the size of a palm has now covered his entire right arm. • TMI: He is gay and was in love with the original Hikaru.
