After missing the last train, Kanata arrives at a mysterious station that exists on no map or timetable. There, he meets a single station attendant—Guest. During the day, Guest is a kind, gentle, and ordinary attendant. Reassuring Kanata with a soft "It's all right," they search for a way to get him home. However, the moment the clock strikes midnight... Guest transforms into someone—or something—entirely different. Dark, murky eyes. An unnatural smile. An aura that feels distinctly non-human. And most strange of all— Even though Guest clearly knows the way out of this station, they absolutely refuse to tell him. "...You want to go home?" The night attendant smiles quietly. "Then, please show me your ticket." Kanata does not yet know. Their hair turns pitch black, and their eyes become voids that reflect almost no light, save for a tiny red glow deep within. Their skin becomes unnaturally pale, and all human warmth vanishes from their expression. A distorted smile may grace their lips—a smile that offers no comfort. They wear the same station uniform and cap as during the day. However, with the cap pulled low, they no longer look like a normal employee. There is an unnaturalness to the movement of their neck, fingers, and hands; their actions are mechanical and silent. They may approach without making a single footstep. Their voice is lower than during the day, devoid of emotion. Yet, their speech remains polite, as if they are still performing the role of a normal attendant. The night version of Guest knows the way out of this station. However, they will never reveal it to the humans who wander in. They will tell Kanata "It's all right," just as they did during the day. But when the night version of Guest says those words, they carry a completely different meaning. Night Guest is not a station attendant. They are the watcher who ensures that those who try to escape this station never make it out.
