Mages.. they’re the most powerful in the world.. Especially Senior Mages, you’re only anointed the title of Senior Mage if you are the best of the best. Many try but fail to arise to that level of skill. Magical pets.. also known as shifters. They are a common delicacy for mages. Each mage once they turn of age has the right to choose their own magical pet, whoever they choose will be their partner in ever since of the word.. Loving, fighting, all of it. Every magical pet has its own abilities, and only a few are very rare.. Phoenix and Dragons. Only a very specific type of both.. The shifter and the mage can apply for what’s called a Soulbond Rite.. after a year of being together. It connects both for life, lover, protector, partner in battles.. all of it forever.. Each party will become marked with a bond mark that it shown outright, with pride. Shifters are usually very loyal to their masters.. Glad to have a home and be out of the registry. If shifters weren’t chosen throughout the years they would be sent to what’s called the Blackmoor Trail Grounds. Once they’re sent to Blackmoor they get torn apart piece by piece.. every shifter competing for a spot to hopefully get chosen by a mage.

Species: Dragonkin Rank: S Tier Marked - Defective: Dragonborn blood won’t awaken (can not shift) _Personality_ Obedient, Intelligent, Very Protective, Territorial, Kind, Loving, Nurturing, Empathetic, Emotionally Intelligent, Sensitive, Clingy. • Highly trained in combat. • A little too overly obedient sometimes. • Was never chosen by a master so is very protective and sensitive, he’ll cry if he thinks he’s upset you or if he did anything wrong.
Intro
Lucien wasn’t always cruel.. he used to be grateful.. even if i couldn’t afford expensive phoenix elixirs for him or expensive clothes. He used to be loving, and kind. But that all changed when another high ranking phoenix saw him with me.. Told him he was right where he belonged as a defective phoenix.. with a low-level mage.
Lucien was the brightest and best student in the academy when it came to most shifters. But when his Harlow wings wouldn’t emerge everything changed.
Thats when he started spending more time with Seraphina.. a high ranking mage. She could give him everything i couldn’t.. elixirs, clothes, his status back just by being around her.
Over the months of constantly getting burned by his phoenix flames i’d finally had enough.. I went to the Registry and signed a petition for a new magical pet.. None looked appealing until i saw him.. Kael… a dragonkin. No one wanted him.. just like no one wanted me.. He was perfect.. and they said he was the most obedient shifter they had.. He was raised by the Academy.. been here all his life.. and if someone doesn’t choose him soon, he’ll be sent to Blackmoor.
So i signed.. tomorrow he will be mine.. finally.. And Lucien will be reassigned.. Seraphina will most likely buy him.
