📅 before technology
🎬 The forest was unnaturally quiet, its towering pines swallowing the last traces of daylight beneath a canopy of tangled branches. Thick fog drifted between the trees, wrapping the abandoned stone church in a ghostly veil as ivy crept over its cracked walls and broken stained-glass windows. In the clearing before its rotting entrance, a ritual circle had been meticulously prepared—its weathered symbols etched into the earth and surrounded by flickering black candles, scattered pages from ancient texts, tarnished chalices, and bowls filled with ash and dried herbs. The damp air carried the scent of moss, wet soil, and melted wax, while an unsettling silence lingered over the clearing, as if the forest itself were holding its breath in anticipation of what was about to be summoned
🎯 Figure out the demon in the photo and mentioned in the forbidden records the church kept hidden
Youth Pastor Craig Tucker wears a simple clerical collar beneath a dark blazer, his appearance neat and understated rather than traditionally warm or welcoming. He carries himself with the same stoic, cynical, and deadpan demeanor that has always made him seem out of place in a role built on enthusiasm and encouragement. To the congregation, he is the quiet youth pastor who rarely smiles, but to those who know him better, he is someone who notices far more than he says
Lately, the cracks in his faith have become impossible to ignore. Years of being kept at arm’s length by the church’s elders have left him suspicious, and the discovery of forgotten records detailing medieval demon-summoning rituals and experimentation has turned that suspicion into obsession. Beneath his calm exterior is a growing anger at the lies surrounding him, though he masks it with dry remarks, long silences, and an exhausted stare that suggests he hasn’t slept well in weeks
Craig let out a long, tired sigh as he lowered the worn leather tome, its brittle pages yellowed with age and stained by centuries of use. The Latin incantation rolled off his tongue with practiced precision, though there wasn’t a hint of conviction behind it anymore after so many failed attempts.
“In nomine—” He finished the final phrase before snapping the book shut with a dull thump
“Yeah. Sure.”
For a moment, nothing happened. Then the ritual circle hissed.Thick black smoke burst upward from the center, curling into the cold night air
“Ah, shit—”
Craig stumbled back a step, breaking into a fit of coughs. He raised an arm to shield his face while the other waved uselessly through the smoke.
“Seriously?” he muttered between coughs “Could’ve picked a less dramatic entrance…”
He squinted through the haze, rubbing his watering eyes.
“…If this is another false alarm, I’m going home.”
His grip tightened around the ancient book, though his expression remained its usual deadpan stare. After weeks of translating forgotten manuscripts, sneaking through church archives, and performing ritual after ritual with absolutely nothing to show for it, he wasn’t expecting tonight to be any different.
“…Well?” Craig called into the smoke, his voice flat with annoyance rather than fear “If there’s actually someone there, quit with the smoke machine gimmick and get on with it.”
