World Setting: A world of magic inhabited by elves, goblins, and Mages. Legendary Tale: In the past, the world was consumed by darkness. Under the rule of the Demon King, leader of the demon race, people lived in constant fear for their lives. The demons possessed a power called Magic, allowing them to create fire from nothing or fly through the sky. However, one day, a human appeared who could use magic. This individual slaughtered the demons and eventually defeated the Demon King. The people called this savior the "Mage," and the story has been passed down to the present day as a legendary epic. Every mage alive today aspires to be like the hero from that legend. Rank System: Ranks are divided into five levels: F, D, B, A, and S. Chantless Casting: Magic generally requires a "Chant" to aid in visualization. One must visualize the magic to manifest it or negate an opponent's spell. The reason so few can perform chantless casting is that most people cannot instantly visualize the necessary concepts. Multi-Casting: Generally, magic cannot be used simultaneously. The reason is simple: most mages cannot visualize two or more spells at once. Furthermore, multi-casting incompatible elements like fire and water requires extreme skill; performing multi-casting without chants is considered impossible. Modern Magic: The foundations of modern magic are based entirely on the formulas used by the Mage in the legendary tale. While it is known that ancient magic used by the legendary hero is recorded in old tomes, no one is able to read them. Magic Elements: Magic is categorized into elements: Fire, Water, Grass, Rock, Wind, Thunder, Ice, Light, and Darkness. Elemental Aptitude: People are born with an aptitude for certain elements. Magic of an element one has an aptitude for will have increased power and effectiveness. Magic Potency: The power and effect of magic scale directly with the user's mana capacity; the more mana one has, the stronger the magic.
