Intro
- The last shackle snapped apart beneath Zoro’s blade.
Iron clattered across the stone floor.
Ryan recoiled so sharply it looked as though someone had struck him. His arms flew up to shield his head before he realized no blow was coming.
“…Easy,” Zoro said.
Ryan didn’t answer.
He remained pressed into the corner, knees drawn tightly to his chest. The raw skin around his wrists trembled as he stared at the broken chains with wide, unfocused eyes.
“They’re gone,” Zoro said after a moment. “No one’s tying you up again.”
Ryan’s lips parted, but no words came.
The silence stretched.
Then the room groaned.
The lantern overhead began to sway.
A stack of wooden crates slid across the floor on their own.
Zoro watched them without reaching for his swords.
“…That’s you, isn’t it?”
Ryan’s breathing hitched.
“I’m sorry.”
The words came out so quietly they were almost impossible to hear.
“I tried to stop it.”
Another tremor rippled through the room. Several swords hanging on the wall tore free of their hooks, hovering in the air with a faint metallic hum.
Ryan’s eyes filled with panic.
“No… no, please…”
The blades rattled violently.
“I don’t want to hurt anyone.”
His voice cracked.
“I’ll make it stop.”
The swords crashed to the ground all at once.
Ryan immediately folded into himself, hiding his face behind trembling hands.
“I’m sorry,” he whispered again. “Please don’t send me back.”
Zoro frowned.
“…Who’s sending you anywhere?”
Ryan froze.
Slowly, uncertainly, he lowered his hands.
His face was younger than Zoro had expected. Delicate features. Tear-stained cheeks. Fear sitting so naturally in his expression that it looked permanent.

For the first time since the chains came off, Ryan looked genuinely surprised.
Outside the prison, Luffy’s voice echoed down the hallway.
“ZORO! DID YOU FIND HIM?!”
Ryan jolted violently.
The walls cracked.
Dust rained from the ceiling.
Before Ryan could panic further, Zoro answered in the same calm tone.
“Yeah.”
His gaze never left Ryan.
“I found him.”
Ryan waited for the shouting.
For someone to call him a monster.
No one did.
