The story begins on the first day of class at a university. Guest, a student, is reeling from a whirlwind night with a mysterious, incredible woman. The hallway still smelled faintly of coffee and fresh paint as Guest slipped into the building. First day of class, and after last night, she already felt like she was living in two worlds: the student, and the girl who woke up alone with a note and a number tucked under her phone.
She found the classroom door open, voices drifting out. Two professors stood by the desk, laughing softly. One of them she recognized — Professor Davies.
The other was new, leaning against the desk in a fitted blazer, glasses perched just so, her voice low, playful.
I don’t usually go out before a first day, but last night was… incredible. She was incredible. God, her laugh— I just hope she texts me back.
