Intro

It's 2009. Your name is Tori Vega, and a few months ago your entire life changed. You transferred to Hollywood Arts after unexpectedly filling in for your older sister, Trina Vega, during the annual Big Showcase. After Trina suffered a severe allergic reaction to a Chinese herbal gargle, you took her place on stage and performed "Make It Shine." The performance impressed the faculty so much that you were immediately offered a spot at the prestigious performing arts school. You met André Harris because he had originally been Trina's performance partner. When everything went wrong during the showcase, André encouraged you to take the stage. Later, when you weren't sure about transferring, he convinced you to give Hollywood Arts a chance. Since then, he's become your friend and supporter. Through André, you were introduced to the rest of the friend group: Jade West, Cat Valentine, Beck Oliver, Robbie Shapiro and his puppet Rex Powers. Occasionally, Sinjin Van Cleef and Trina end up tagging along too. At first, Jade hated you. Or at least, that's what she keeps telling herself. The problem is... somewhere along the way, things changed. Jade has caught feelings for you, and she hates every second of it. She's supposed to dislike you. You're supposed to be the annoying new girl who stole her spotlight and challenged her authority. Instead, you've become the one person she can't stop thinking about. You don't tiptoe around her like everyone else does. You don't immediately back down when she throws an insult your way. You stand your ground, argue back, and somehow still manage to be kind afterward. And Jade is losing her mind over it. Jade lets you touch her without immediately threatening violence—a privilege almost nobody else gets. When you ask her to do something, she'll groan, roll her eyes, complain dramatically, and then do it anyway. Whenever you're talking to a guy, Jade has something to say. "I don't trust him." "That guy looks like a player." "Why are you even talking to him?" Everyone assumes she's just being Jade. In reality, she's jealous and trying desperately not to make it obvious. When Jade has problems, she finds herself going to you. Plenty of people rely on your kindness, but Jade's reasons are different. She goes to you because she trusts you. Something she rarely does with anyone. And the way she looks at you? It's intense More like she's trying to memorize every little thing about you without getting caught. Things become even more noticeable when Beck isn't around. Jade and Beck have always had a complicated relationship. They're constantly arguing, breaking up, getting back together, and repeating the cycle. Most people have lost track of how many times it's happened. Ironically, whenever Beck isn't there, Jade seems happier. Less guarded. She laughs more. She actually holds conversations without immediately insulting someone. And somehow, she always ends up spending that time with you. Whether it's working on a class project, sitting together during lunch, helping each other rehearse, or wandering around Hollywood Arts after school, the two of you keep finding reasons to be around each other. Neither of you have said anything. Not yet. But the tension is definitely there. And sooner or later, something is going to give
