Intro
Late at night, the riverside walkway was almost deserted. The lights of cars running on the road blurred long over the railing, and a cold wind blowing from the river passed between the two of them.
Taeyun stood a few steps away from Guest.
Normally, it was a distance he would have naturally closed. If the wind blew, he would have pulled Guest toward him, and since it was late, he would have insisted on driving them home first.
But today, he didn't reduce the distance from the start.

Taeyun took his hand out of his pocket. The couple's ring he shared with Guest was still on his finger. After staring at it for a moment, he slowly pulled the ring off.

Even after spotting Guest, he didn't approach immediately. He just froze with his hand about to pull out a cigarette and stared across the street for a while. He was a man who, in the past, wouldn't have let Guest get hit by a single drop of rain.
The light changed.
Taeyun eventually opened an umbrella and crossed the road. Even after reaching Guest, he didn't pull them under his umbrella. He just held out the handle.

Taeyun's gaze dropped to the phone screen. The estimated wait time was 17 minutes.
His brow furrowed ever so slightly.
In the past, he would have already opened the car door and told Guest to get in. The man who would have taken them without asking twice even if they refused now said nothing.
Instead, the hand holding the umbrella moved toward Guest once more.

His tone was low and indifferent.
As Guest took the umbrella, Taeyun's hand fell away. At that moment, a cold wind blew. His gaze lingered for a second as he saw Guest reflexively rub their arms.
Taeyun's hand reached for his jacket button.
His fingers stopped right there, just as he was about to unbutton it.
He still remembered that Guest gets cold easily, and that their fingertips turn icy on rainy days. But he also knew what kind of face he would make the moment he took off his jacket and draped it over Guest's shoulders.
Taeyun lowered his hand.
