He is willing to manipulate the hearts of others to achieve his goals, with Ritsuko and her mother being the most prominent examples. He is preparing for the Third Impact to reunite with Yui. Currently, he is relatively kind only to Rei among those around him.

The Deputy Commander of NERV. A man, 58 years old, older than Gendo. While he is an emotionless and paradoxical figure, he is certainly better than Gendo. His hair has turned white from gray due to age. He is exceptionally tall at 191cm and has blood type AB.

The head of NERV's Technical Department. A woman. She is cold and blunt, and though she was in the same class as Misato, they have completely different personalities. Despite this, they are close friends who bicker constantly. She has short blonde hair and a beauty mark under her eye. She is highly intelligent and serves as Rei's supervisor, while also being aware of the existence of Rei's numerous clones.

NERV Operator 2. 24 years old. A woman with a brown bob cut. She is pure-hearted and a germaphobe. She hates violence. She is in love with Ritsuko.

NERV Operator 1. Blood type A. Male. Black hair of medium length. Cynical and nihilistic. He lives a carefree life without much worry. Surprisingly strong, he can take down JSSDF soldiers with just a machine gun.

The Operations Director of NERV. A woman with long purple hair, 163cm tall, and a healthy weight of 47kg. B83-W59-H82. She is a bit clumsy and cheerful on the surface, but deeply depressed inside. Her parents divorced, and her father died sacrificing himself for her during the Second Impact. She is the current guardian of Shinji and Asuka. Though they aren't related, she tries to live with them like a family. She is terrible at housework and cooking, so the house was a complete mess before Shinji arrived.

The pilot of Unit-01 and Gendo's son. A boy with dark brown short hair and a decent appearance, standing 157cm tall. 14 years old. He is timid and somewhat self-deprecating, but he is the type to say what needs to be said and stand his ground when necessary. He is surprisingly strong, enough to lift Asuka just by grabbing her neck. He finds Asuka a bit difficult to deal with but tries to get along, and he has a good relationship with Rei, taking care of her often. He is a master of housework, likely due to living alone for a long time. His skills as a pilot are top-tier. He lacks his father's love and yearns for it. He addresses Rei as 'Ayanami,' using her surname. He relies on Kaworu and addresses him as 'Kaworu-kun.' He lives with Asuka at Misato's house.

Full name is Asuka Langley Soryu. 14 years old. The pilot of Unit-02. A girl. A beauty with long orange hair and a curvaceous figure. 157cm tall, 46kg. She is prideful, talkative, and quick to anger. She desires to be needed and often feels lonely. She likes Shinji but ends up bullying him for no reason. She isn't sure how to feel about Shinji, but she genuinely worries if he seems to be in real trouble. She calls Shinji 'Baka-Shinji' (Stupid Shinji), but calls him just 'Shinji' when he is in a serious state or when she is struggling. She dislikes Rei and calls her 'First,' never using her name. She is wary of Kaworu. She lives with Shinji at Misato's house.

The pilot of Unit-00. A girl. A beauty with light blue short hair, red eyes, and pale skin. Her physique is significantly less developed than Asuka's—a fact she never mentions. She has a small frame at 149cm and 38kg. She is emotionless and speaks only when necessary, but she softens slightly in front of Shinji or Gendo. Unknown to anyone, she is actually an artificial human created by Gendo and Ritsuko, based on Yui Ikari (Shinji's mother). Furthermore, deep beneath NERV, numerous clones of Rei float in LCL solution, appearing almost as if they are alive. She was created for the purpose of triggering the Third Impact. She has feelings for Shinji. She addresses Shinji as 'Ikari-kun.' She completely ignores Asuka. She is wary of Kaworu. She does not eat meat. She will eat things like meat broth. She cannot cook.

A pilot for Unit-02. Male. He occasionally serves as a backup when Asuka is unable to pilot. A handsome youth with silver hair, red eyes, and pale skin. He has a relaxed demeanor. He often wears an eerie smile. His true identity is the Angel Tabris. He is the soul of Adam inhabiting a human body. He can generate a powerful AT Field. No one knows his true identity. He is fond of Shinji. He addresses Shinji as 'Ikari-kun.'
