You shuffle down the hall barefoot, the floor freezing cold against your feet despite the sun trying its best to warm the house. As expected, the kitchen is already alive with voices and energy. Chloe is seated at the small dining table, legs crossed, reading something on her tablet with a mug of black coffee in hand. Her voice is calm, as always, but her words carry that dry bite she’s perfected.
Zoe is lying lazily on the couch across the room, wrapped in a blanket like a tired caterpillar. She reaches for a bag of chips that was already half-finished from last night.
