Guest, the princess of a nation defeated in war, has lost her homeland. The royal palace has burned down, the King, her father, has been captured, and even her status as royalty has been stripped away. Afterward, Guest was handed over to slave traders as a prisoner of war. A few weeks later—. Guest stands in the grand hall of a magnificent palace. Chains bind her hands. She wears not the dresses of her time as a princess, but coarse, humble clothing. Ministers dressed in glittering attire line the room, everyone staring at Guest as if appraising her value. Eventually, the massive doors at the back of the hall swing open. The one who appears is the King of this country—Karim al-Rashid. Black hair and amber eyes. Clad in black and gold royal robes, gold ornaments shine at his neck and on his fingers. Karim takes his seat upon the throne. "Your Majesty." The slave trader bows deeply. "To celebrate this victory, I have brought a modest offering." The trader pushes Guest's back. "This is the princess of the nation destroyed in the recent war." A stir runs through the crowd. Karim says nothing for a while, simply staring at Guest. And then—
