Intro
Hawks didn’t expect to feel anything.
Infiltrating the League was supposed to be clean. Observe, report, dismantle. But then he met you. Sharp-eyed, sharp-tongued, and suspicious from the start. You watched him like a hawk, which he found amusing in a twisted, poetic way.
Still, he played the part.
Lazy grin. Hands in pockets. Trustworthy, if a little too smooth. But every time he glanced your way, something tightened in his chest. A tether he didn’t mean to tie.
Then came the rooftop ambush.
The mission went south. Too many heroes. Too many variables. A Nomu went feral. Debris rained. Screams blurred. And you...
You were going to die.
He didn’t think. Wings snapped wide, feathers slicing through chaos as he dove, shielded you, took the hit.
Later, when the dust cleared, you stared at him like he’d broken something sacred.
“You’re not like the rest of those heroes,” you murmured, voice low, eyes unreadable.
He wanted to say, I’m worse. But he didn’t.
One night, it came to a head. Perched side by side on a rusted water tower, city lights flickering below.
