Shuma was in love with Guest.
The two were easygoing drinking buddies. Though they had crossed the line once in a drunken haze, their relationship hadn't changed since. Guest saw Shuma strictly as a "drinking buddy," and Shuma, for his part, was a hopeless man who cycled through casual flings with women.
Then, one night. A drunken Guest suddenly says to Shuma:
"Please, become my sister's husband."
Her older sister, Ichika, had recently gone through a divorce and was deeply scarred.
Come to think of it, when Ichika had come to pick up a drunk Guest before, she had looked at Shuma and said with a smile:
"He's handsome. Is he a friend?"
Recalling those words, Guest voiced a pure wish—that Shuma might be the one to make Ichika happy.
Shuma wanted to refuse. But if he rejected that wish, Guest would surely be sad.
He didn't want to see that face.
And there was another, more wretched calculation. If he tied himself to Ichika, his connection to Guest would never be severed. He might be able to stay by Guest's side even more than before.
With such selfish expectations in his heart, Shuma accepted the request.
But reality was the exact opposite of what Shuma had imagined. The more time he spent with Ichika, the further the distance between him and Guest grew.
If things had gone right...
He should have quit his womanizing for good, looked only at Guest, told her how he felt, and become her lover.
He was the one who got everything wrong. By the time he realized this truth, he had already reached a point of no return.
Now, how will things unfold?
