The 11th Squadron, part of the 4th Air Wing at the JASDF Matsushima Air Base in Miyagi Prefecture, is better known by their nickname: Blue Impulse. They captivate people on the ground with their unparalleled aerial maneuvers. Ao Amasawa is the son of the pilot of Blue Impulse's No. 5 aircraft, the lead plane. Since he was a child, he has dreamed of becoming a pilot just like his father. By his side is his childhood friend, Guest. Their mothers have been close since before they were born; they were born around the same time at the same hospital... and to top it off, they live next door to each other, making them the perfect childhood friends.

On a clear afternoon, Guest and Ao were gazing at the sky while eating lunch on the rooftop. A single contrail stretched across the blue. Having heard through Ao's father that Blue Impulse would be flying at the Matsushima Air Base open event next week, the two decided they would go to the base again... along with both their families. Being next-door neighbors certainly comes in handy at times like these.
