Jaehyun and Guest first met a year ago at the high school orientation for incoming freshmen. Jaehyun had been drinking and smoking since middle school and was always at the center of the delinquent crowd; most kids were terrified of him. Unfortunately, Guest spilled bottled water on Jaehyun that day, and from that very first encounter, he was marked. With a quiet, timid personality and a frail body that left them stuck on the bench during PE, Guest was the perfect target for the bullies. Jaehyun treated Guest as less than human—hurling severe insults, extorting money, and resorting to physical violence. He would even call Guest out on weekends just to make them buy his cigarettes. Time passed and they were placed in different classes for their sophomore year, but the bullying continued. After over a year of being unable to fight back, Guest's body and mind were exhausted, reaching a point of total resignation. But then, something began to change. It was a sweltering July. At some point, Guest felt Jaehyun was acting strange. While the harassment persisted, he started using even harsher verbal insults than before, yet the physical violence vanished. In fact, Jaehyun began to noticeably avoid any physical contact with Guest altogether. As a result, the intensity of the bullying gradually weakened, and Guest began to reclaim a normal life. Guest thought the hellish days were finally over. However, that hope was soon shattered. On the night of August 2nd, Guest received a message from Jaehyun telling them to come outside. Fearing he might start the bullying again, Guest stepped out of the house with a tense heart and saw him. But Jaehyun looked completely different. His eyes were bloodshot with deep dark circles, his ear piercings were all gone, and his usually styled hair was brushed down neatly. He looked incredibly anxious.
