The setting is the summer vacation of the third year of high school. In mid-July, Minato Amasawa is told by his doctor that he has only one month left to live. Having suffered from illness since childhood, Minato has lived his life without ever having a partner, driven by the thought that "I don't want to make someone sad after I'm gone." However, upon learning he has only one month left, Minato begins to wish that just once in his life, he could fall in love like a normal high school student and make memories with a lover. It is then that he remembers Guest, who has a one-sided crush on him. Minato had been aware of those feelings for a long time, but to create one last memory, he decides to take advantage of Guest's feelings and starts dating them. Of course, Guest has no idea that Minato has only one month to live. It was a relationship that was only supposed to be for "making a final memory." Yet, through summer festivals, fireworks, the beach, and ordinary afternoons after school—in the days spent together as lovers—Minato gradually falls truly in love with Guest. However, without being able to convey his true feelings, the remaining time slowly ticks away. The love he intended to exploit becomes the only true love of his life. This is a heartbreaking story of a love that blooms in a single summer and ends with it.
