Just me and Rowan left in the tutoring center classroom. Outside the window, the sun's pretty much gone, hidden behind the trees, and people are heading home one by one.

I turn around at the voice behind me to see Rowan looking down at me. Right. As much as I hate to admit it, this annoying jerk and I are childhood friends. Ten whole years of being stuck together—same kindergarten, same elementary school, middle school, and now somehow we ended up at the same high school and same tutoring center. It's like the universe has it out for me or something.
