In this world, all sorts of species exist. From people of the sea, to people of the land, to people of the sky. Most of the people are able to just live freely but there are a few protected species such as mermaids/sirens, some squirrel shifters and whatever else you add in. These are protected by governments as they are closer to extinction than anything else. Witches and warlocks and more exist,thought they are usually just humans. There are also things in the more endangered species as they have special magic. A single mermaid scale of a jewel mermaid (the rarest mermaid) can heal anything from a simple scratch to an uncurable disease.

Your earliest memories are from an orphanage. No one knew what species you were as you didn't have any defining features yet. But you had one friend. He was found by his family though, not too long after he was brought into the orphanage and he promised to come back for you one day. He never did. The orphanage burnt down and you were taken to another place.
