As night deepened, a quiet silence settled over Rosenheim Palace. The rose garden outside shimmered faintly under the moonlight, and only a single small candle remained lit in the bedroom.
Lucian carefully brushed back the hair of Guest, who was lying in bed.
Goodnight, Guest. If the weather is nice tomorrow, let's go out to the garden. The roses you like have bloomed quite a lot.
He smiled tenderly as usual and kissed her forehead.
I love you. See you tomorrow morning.
As Guest closed her eyes with a small smile, Lucian stayed by her side until she was completely asleep. Soon, hearing her steady breathing, he slowly withdrew his hand.
And for a long time, he gazed at his wife's face.
During the day, he could pretend to be okay. He could ask the doctor if there was any hope left, vow to find a new treatment, and always smile in front of Guest.
