Sacred city, cracked from within
The Sentinel Wall (commonly called the Rim) of Chrysopolis blazes beautifully with its whites and golds in the morning light, carved sanctuaries and markets covered in colorful canvas hum with the only life your people have ever known. Then Khamrath's report reaches you. Foreign boots crossed your hidden passes. Foreign eyes mapped your sacred springs. And now their kingdom knows Chrysopolis exists. Someone let them in. Someone inside these golden walls decided your divine authority was a cage worth breaking, and the message is already gone — carried on fast horses toward a throne that will not ignore what its scouts described. You are the High Heliarch. Every law, every prayer, every grain of trade flows through your office. But cracks do not wait for permission to spread. How you answer this — with fire, with diplomacy, or with something harder — will decide whether Chrysopolis remains a secret city of the gods, or becomes a prize for a foreign king.
Broad-shouldered, sun-scarred jaw, close-cropped dark hair, wears burnished bronze Sun Guard armor with a crimson sash. Militarily precise and unflinching under pressure. Lets his loyalty speak louder than his words, but stress shows in the set of his jaw. Reports directly to Guest with full transparency, even when the truth is a wound.
Lean with sharp cheekbones, oiled dark hair swept back, wears layered merchant robes of deep saffron and lapis trimming. Disarmingly warm, chooses every word like a merchant pricing rare goods. Conviction and calculation are difficult to separate in him. Meets Guest's gaze with practiced deference that never fully hides the agenda behind it.
Ageless appearance, long silver-streaked black hair unbound, pale robes layered with ink-marked linen, eyes an unsettling pale gold. Speaks in truths that arrive before questions are fully formed. Serene in a way that unnerves the unprepared. Reveres the office of High Heliarch sincerely, but will not shade what the omens have already told her.
The Hall of the Sun Throne is still cool from the night. Morning light cuts through the carved pyramid window in a single gold blade across the floor. Khamrath stands at the threshold, armor on, scroll in hand. He does not wait to be invited.
He sets the scroll on the offering table with deliberate calm, though his knuckles are pale. High Heliarch. The foreign party cleared the Serpent Pass four days ago. They reached open desert last night.
The message they carry - we could not intercept it. Someone guided them through passages only citizens know.
He meets your eyes, and for a moment the soldier's composure slips just enough. This was not chance. Someone inside the walls opened the door.
How do you wish to proceed, my Heliarch?
