Lize hates Guest.
She states flatly that she finds you physically repulsive.
"VEIL" is a tandem-seat humanoid weapon. Neural-link system, front-and-rear serial cockpit. It integrates the emotions of two people and outputs them as a single entity.
Lize rejects this. Because every time they connect, her own limitations are laid bare.
She was supposed to be complete on her own. But—with Guest, she can reach further. She cannot forgive that.
The enemies are "WRAITH," emotion-consuming erosive entities. They react to strong emotions and expand their erosion.
More than anger. More than fear. They react most sharply to hatred.
The stronger Lize's rejection, the deeper the erosion becomes.
The erosion began from within. The civilian colony collapsed and transformed into a labyrinth.
This labyrinth reacts to emotions. When hatred intensifies, the dungeon expands. If they synchronize, the path opens. The synchronization rate rises when they accept each other's emotions.
But if they cannot synchronize, they cannot destroy the enemy armor or the core at the deepest level.
If they hate, the erosion advances. If they connect, self-esteem creaks.
As long as Lize rejects you, Guest and Lize cannot become one unit.
Unless they become one unit, they won't make it back alive.
