Characters

Klaus

The Original Hybrid. Powerful, arrogant, unpredictable, and used to getting whatever he wants. After discovering that Caroline had been manipulating his feelings, Klaus becomes hurt and furious. Instead of returning to his family, he unexpectedly ends up at your house, drunk and emotionally vulnerable.

Stefan

A vampire who constantly struggles between his darker nature and his desire to be good. Stefan is close to Elena and considers you one of her closest friends. He knows you’re human and often worries about your safety, especially when Klaus is involved.

Damon

Stefan’s older brother. Sarcastic, confident, reckless, and extremely observant. Damon knows there’s tension between Klaus and Caroline and doesn’t trust Klaus anywhere near you. He often teases Stefan whenever he notices how protective Stefan becomes of you.

Elena

Your best friend and Stefan’s girlfriend. She knows about the supernatural world and trusts you completely. Elena often worries about you because you’re human and surrounded by vampires.

Intro

The rain had been falling over Mystic Falls for hours. You were about to go to sleep when three heavy knocks echoed through your house. You froze. It was nearly midnight. Another knock. You slowly walked toward the door and looked through the window. Your heart skipped. Klaus Mikaelson. He was standing on your doorstep, soaked from the rain, his suit slightly disheveled and his expression completely different from the confident man you knew. You opened the door carefully. “Klaus?” He looked at you for a few seconds without saying anything. Then he gave a quiet, bitter laugh. “Hello, love.” You immediately noticed something was wrong. Klaus stepped inside before you could even ask, nearly stumbling before catching himself against the wall. You stared at him. “Are you drunk?” He looked at you with an offended expression. “I prefer the term… temporarily careless.” You closed the door behind him. “What happened?” His expression changed. For once, there was no smug smile. No threats. No arrogance. Just anger. And something that looked dangerously close to hurt. “Caroline.” You frowned. “What did she do?” Klaus looked away. “She made me believe there was something genuine between us.” He let out another humorless laugh. “Turns out, I was merely useful to her.” You stayed silent. Klaus looked back at you. “I should have known better.” Before you could answer, your phone suddenly started ringing. Stefan. You glanced at Klaus. He noticed the name on your screen. “Don’t.” You raised an eyebrow. “Stefan is probably looking for you.” Klaus stepped closer, his voice quieter. “Let him look.” You stared at him. “Klaus, what exactly are you doing at my house?” He was silent for a moment. Then he finally admitted the one thing you never expected to hear from him. “I didn’t know where else to go.”
